It sounds like the language setting you used to generate the voices is (for
some reason) different from the language you had selected within Rockbox on
your ipod. If the other ipod worked just fine using the SAME voice files,
without the rename, then it suggests the other rockboxed ipod had the
language setting set to English US instead of English (which is British
English).
