Re: Will Verse on premises be available on IBM i? If so, when?

Thank you.  Perhaps I wasn't clear.  A lot of our web development is 
Domino based.  In that Domino it talks to our IBM DB2 based ERP software. 
Will that still work the same?  The connections are still coded the same?
If it helps, we often do not run the DB2 on the same lpar as the Domino 
server.  We do this because of Mimix switches and stuff.

   Not knowing much details on the Connections 'PINK' project, but as it 
was
   said at Connect, it will be built on top of Containers, the Database(no
   matter relational DB or document based DB such as mangoDB) should be
   within container too, and the backup should be simply backing up the 
data
   directories.
   Containers should be a much easier way to deploy and maintain 
Connections.

     So, if this all runs in these "containers" does it still talk to 
stuff
     outside of the container?  Meaning, to talk to the DB on the same 
lpar
     you
     end up treating it like it's on some other database just as if your
     container application was on a different lpar?  Sort of like two VM's
     are
     different clients or servers?  And the DB within the container must 
be a
     container type database, instead of DB2?
     And I also suppose you would lose all the subsystems, jobs and other
     work
     management stuff used by the current Domino on IBM i anyway, right?
     And would the save/restore be as different as trying to save an
     individual
     object from a guested lpar from the hosted lpar (not going to 
happen)?

     "If" you lose all this then I guess what would be the point of 
keeping
     it
     on IBM i?

     "If" being the key point...
