Totally understand and to a large degree agree with your logic, but given
MS's history I'd be seriousely waiting for SP2 before doing anything major
with those boxes...

I'll be at CES this week.  Let you know if I hear any rumbles either way...

I don't really think it's a matter of "rushing" to windows 7.  Instead, it
is a the product and release policies of Microsoft that are making windows 7
the most attractive choice.  We are going to skip Vista altogether, but in
the meantime some of our XP systems are getting a little long in the tooth.
It is still possible to get a new machine and put XP on it, but Microsoft is
increasingly making that difficult to do.

Pardon my ignorance, by why are people in such a rush to go to Windows 7?  

Hasn't Microsoft more than proven its inability to have a bug free product
on release day?
