I have not been w/ a company that does EDI (at least our location) in about 10 years, so I don't have a lot of recent EDI experience. However, the company I worked at for several years until about a year ago was highly regulated and heavily audited. Depending on what types of audits you are subjected to, it is possible that the auditors would have a hey day with receiving w/o a VA. In which case they might require an extensive paper trail to explain the missing VA. Something you might want to consider.
