http://www.unixodbc.org/ - from their website "ALL unixODBC development
is and will be distributed under GPL or LGPL. The LGPL on libs will
ensure that commercial solutions will be able to utilize unixODBC". IBM's
iSeries Linux ODBC was contracted out to EasySoft (who run the unixodbc
domain). IBM list it as "The iSeries ODBC Driver for Linux is a no charge
iSeries licensed program -- 5733-LO1" on their site
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/linux/odbc/guide/
(drop the /guide/ to get to the main page) so it looks like there should
be no problems. You could always drop Nick Gorham of EasySoft (see
contact info on unixodbc.org page) an email as he's quite approachable.
He recently gave a talk on unixODBC at my local LUG and as he mentioned
the iSeries I quizzed him about it afterwards.

<disclaimer>Other than what I've picked up as a result of the above talk
and reading about it subsequently, I know nothing about ODBC, hence not
being able to answer any of the other questions ;)</disclaimer>
