Yes, I think it will be well beyond the handwaving stage.
Matt and I are each running real sites (albeit small) mostly
with the ARK1 stuff, right now. Of course, ARK won't be
"finished" -- when is "collaboration" finished?
If it's a theoretical paper, then just having a prototype is fine. But if
it's a tool, it's important that people can download and use it. (There
are exceptions. See Alva Couch's paper from two LISAs past.)
Thanks for the offer of paper help. I'm reasonably
comfortable w/ that side of things; what's more, there's
nothing at stake if my/our paper gets rejected... It would
save me having to beg the child bride for airfare...
I wasn't offering help with the paper writing--you obviously know how to
write--I was just making my usual non-credible offer of pitching in with
the development effort, also possibly sharing implementation experiences.
(Too much to do, too little time to do it in! And now I've got another
big PIKT project on my front burner! Actually, this other big project
might benefit trememdously by melding with Arusha. This is where Harlan
steps in. But more about that some other time.)

I'm glad you left Chicago off your list, and *disappointed*
that you didn't include... Arusha (highs this week 20-21C,
lows 16-17C... I'm going to cry...) :-)
Yeah, well, Chicago's okay, maybe, but where's the fun of attending a
conference in one's home town?
Those temps are pretty amazing for Africa. Is Arusha in the highlands or
something? Where my wife is from in the Philippines (and where I've lived
six years), even now (January) daily temps are guaranteed to reach 35c
and above.
Philippines I'm dreamin'..., on such a winter's daaaayyyyyyy...
