I don't know the answer, but my suspicion is right at first
line of ./ark-site-gen, namely:

#! /usr/bin/env python

I assume that it really will start up python, it doesn't
care about the space after #!, etc.?

If it works in your personal env, but not the one the ARK
stuff is being run in, maybe they're different in some
unpleasant way?  PATH setting, in particular.

Perhaps you could stick in an 'env' just before the ark-site-gen
just to let it show you what's what?

If the PATH is wrong, try editing <ARK-BUILDING-PATH> in
your team's host/ALL.xml.

Once we find out what the real problem is, perhaps we can
