I had included the patch in the original submission, but somehow it
didn't make it.  Thanks for pointing out the obvious, I didn't look
twice, it's there now.

I'll be interested to hear when this patch gets merged in,
[ 1748689 ] Trivial optimations - especially dar_manager
then I'll rework my other patch which will just add to the
performance improvements.
