I share this point of view too.

Note that using the released source packages avoids you having to
regenerate the configure script and this is the preferred way to
compile dar/libdar from source.

Using source from git assumes you have autoconf, automake, libtoolize,
gettextize, aclocal, autoheader, installed in addition to the
requirement needed from a released package (C++ compiler, make and
optional libraries).

Anyway, the test on omniOS was interesting and let me fix the s_host
symbol conflict with in.h system header file on solaris that #defines
a macro of that name. I will release 2.6.10 soon with this fix and
some others.
