you should use the full path to the backup: there is no way in an URL to 
specify a relative path (relative to the user's home directory for 
example) so something like this should work:

   dar -va -t sftp://xxxx@host/home/xxx/archive/server4you/first

OK, I will give it a try, (normally this should be covered by automated 
tests done before each release...)
