as always the documentation needs a MAJOR rewrite, but who and when is always
the big question :-)

Let me explain the remote backup stuff. If you generate a remote backup all
options concerning the tar file are ignored, except the encryption. If you
need chunks you must specify that on the remote machine, so:

[remote]
allow remote = yes
chunk size = 50M

When 'remote' receives the backup it will generate the chunks desired.

Rule of thumb:
Hdup sends a bunch of bytes to the remote machine, how those bytes are handled
it entirely up to the remote machine.

the changes between .22 and .23 did not include the handling of remote
backups. If what you are saying here is true, it is a bug in hdup. Please
give me the full configs. Maybe I can see what's going on.

If the only backup being made is a monthly, that would be of course a
full dump :) Sound very fishy to me. This code hasn't changed or been
touched for quite some time, so it should be fairly stable...
