... however, the functionality you're discussing looks very like the -FFF option to star(1) (available in FC2 and elsewhere). I haven't tested this, but it would be interesting to use hdup's "tar" option to point it at star. We might then be able to use hdup's new "tar option" keyword to select star's "-acl" and "-xattr" options for archiving ACL's and extended attributes (such as those used by SELinux).
