I mailed with Joerg about using star for hdup. That was about a month
ago - star 1.54 has some features needed for hdup. Having said that,
star has a different backup philosophy than hdup. star works with
filesystems as opposed to directories.

So you feed star a partition and that gets dumped, Joerg said that is
_the_ way to do backups. I disagreed and said I just wanted to copy
some data of a live filesystem.

Also, by using star you would need the latest and the greatest
version of it - something you don't have to do with pax and gnu tar.
