which is _a_ _lot_ better then the 1.13.25. And thankfully
tar finally developed again.

I agree, star probably is a better tar then gnu tar. However
there are some features in gnu tar that are not in star. AND
the backup philosophy of star is way different then that of 
gnu tar. Star wants to backup partition, gnu tar backs up
files/directories.

I've talked to Joerg about using star for hdup, this has
yielded some new version in the newest version of star.

But the bottom line currently is, gnu tar (and therefor) hdup2 are
very incompatible with how star works.

During the dev of 2.0.1 I've used gnu tar, star and pax as a backend
for hdup. I finally went back to gnu tar for hdup 2.0.2/3

I'm very much in favor of switching backends in hdup, and allow star,
but for know I think that is just too much trouble for very little
gain...
