Why daily and weekly?

Dear hdup users, Why does hdup create weekly AND daily incremental backups? I don't see any need for this redundancy except efficiency (recreating a file using 30 daily diffs takes longer than using 4 weekly and 2 daily (=6) diffs). Is that the only reason? If so, can I perform the "weekly" diffs each day if I don't care about recovery performance? Regards, Jeroen Versteeg PS: This is my first time using a mailing list.
