there are only 3 archives used to recreate an image, namely the last
monthly, weekly and daily. 

The "need" to do a daily backup is only there if you want daily
granularity of your backups. That is, if you are only interested in
last week's contents of your files - you only create the monthly and
weekly and don't do the daily's.

Allthough hdup cannot do this, you can also opt for multiple backups
per day - that way you only loose several hours worth of work, if
something bad happens. 

It's all a matter of priority, how much can you loose and how much
diskspace and time are you willing to invest in your backups. Neither
hdup, nor I can decide that for you :-)

sure you can, but this is not a relevant question as I tried to

Well, as I'm the mailing list manager I can see that you are not
subscribed :-) So I did a reply-to-all.

spam. hdup-user is no difference. If you want to participate in
discussions and get announcements for new releases of hdup, please
