Well... not really, as in I'm not sure how to fix this using only
hdup. So soon I will re-check gnu tar again and see if there is a
quick fix. After that I will put two patches on the webpage, one
for tar and one for hdup. I know applying patches is a pain and I
also really like to apt-get install stuff, but I see no alternative.

The only dirty way I see, would be to also store all directory
permissions along side the archive, by using a shell script or
something.
