Hi,
My name is Usagi Yojimbo, and I am new here.
I have a "ModeCom FEEL-607 LCD MediaCenter" case, with a built in
"ModeCom MC-525 Media Bay" set.
It has an IR receiver for the remote controller, an LCD display, and
some buttons, all this connected as an USB HID device.
The driver disk only contains Windows software, and the manufacturer
gave no Linux support.
In the case, a media player was built: it runs Fedora 14 with stock XBMC
from FreshRPMs.
Based on various ids, i tried to find drivers for it, but did not succeeded.
For some time I did not used it at all, but hen I came across a program
on the XBMC forums, that read USB HID events, and converted them to
keyboard events.
This gave me the idea of looking for a way to make use of the LCD display.
Thus I put another HDD in it, and installed Windows XP and some USB
snoopers on it, and also the software provided with the case.
With some trial-by-error I got the protocol to display text on the LCD.
So I took a (seemingly) simple driver (text), and modified it to be able
to send the text to the LCD device through USB HID.
After some testing, I mapped its character set, and added the icon
characters to the driver.
And that is where I am now.
I thought I submit my driver, maybe there are some other users waiting
for this...
However I am not sure what and how to submit, so I would like to have
some guidelines, if any.
Regards,
Usagi
