Hey Saby, just now saw your reply and again, it's a fairly large question.
As one example, simply monitoring connectivity to a web app might not
actually reveal the actual availability of the app. Rather it might only
show there was some network problem. Or worse, perhaps a temporary DB
responsiveness issue--like, I don't know, the DBA updated the catalog
statistics to adjust for drastically altered cardinality but the SQL that
the developer so lovingly hard-coded into their app now runs as fast as the
last scene in Inception, all because they forgot the explicit rebind. So
if you can be just a little more specific with the type of app monitoring
you desire (pure performance/transaction type, availability, specific
errors, etc...) someone here can throw a few suggestions out there that
will better suits your needs.
