I'm not sure how NCID watches the modem for incoming calls without an 
exclusive lock, but faxgetty uses an exclusive lock on the modem.  So, 
no, it won't share the modem in the sense that you are asking for it.

However, faxgetty *can* share the modem with other applications through 
configuration... like handing voice calls off to vgetty or data calls 
off to mgetty... but I haven't heard of anyone doing that kind of stuff 
for a long, long, time.  (So, I'm not sure what hardware to use or if 
the features work properly in recent versions of HylaFAX.)

Well, however you're submitting the fax in the first place... just get 
it to also issue the faxmodem command.

That said...

faxgetty can also check CallerID and hang-up on calls based on received 
CallerID.  Look at the DynamicConfig "RejectCall" configuration in 'man 
hylafax-config'.
