It's going to take some time to get to the bottom of it. There are a lot of involved changes between libtiff 4.0.6 and 4.0.7, and if finding the problem ultimately requires stepping through the various libtiff commits then it could be a rather lengthy process. Once the problem is identified we will be able to determine if the fault is in HylaFAX or in libtiff. If it is in libtiff (which is likely the case since it's the one that "moved") then you'll never be able to use stock 4.0.7, anyway, as you'll need to patch it. Unfortunately, the libtiff development code really never gets tested extremely thoroughly until after a release. Consequently, we sometimes see regressions in libtiff releases. Normally I do make an effort to test the libtiff release candidates with HylaFAX, but I've not been able to do that lately.
