Waiting for modem to come ready - EVEN AFTER REBOOT

Hello all,

Have a hylafax server that's been running fine for a couple years. Suddenly
this morning it stoped working and gives the message "Waiting for modem to
come ready". I have powered down the modem and rebooted the machine three
times and the problem persists.  Any ideas how I can fix this?
