There is more than one issue you should think about:

First: Try to protect your footnote with \protect\footcite[xy]{za}.
Now you probably get the footnotelabel but no footnotetext, which leads us
to second.
Second: Footnotes and floats (tables, figures etc.) are not friends. Read
the following section in the German FAQ on www.dante.de:
6.3.5 Wie erhalte ich eine Fußnote innerhalb einer `figure' oder
`table'? Es erscheint zwar eine Markierung, aber kein Fußnotentext. (*)
And for third as a conclusion: Try to avoid footnotes and footcites in
floats. You can probably set them in the sourrounding or in give the
reference openly in the caption.
