1. As always, it would have been good for me to read the manual.
Putting \jbfirstcitepageranges allows me to set \def\herename{at }, so
pages=format produces output like:
pp. 235--41, at p. 240.
This works for the "Cambridge style" of my last post. I don't knowhow
to get the parentheses called for in the MHRA style:
pp. 235--41 (p. 240).
HOWEVER, with pages=format turned off for @article (as in Jens's fix),
this solution sadly doesn't work. Using my previous example, I get:
J. R. Hall, `Some liturgical notes on \AE lfric's \emph{Letter to the
Monks at Eynsham}', \emph{Downside Review} 93 (1975), 297--303, at
298.
What I really want is:
J. R. Hall, `Some liturgical notes on \AE lfric's \emph{Letter to the
Monks at Eynsham}', \emph{Downside Review} 93 (1975), 297--303, at p.
298.
(or, for MHRA, "297--303 (p. 298)")
2. Searching the manual has not given me any insight on the counters
question.
