First edition after title without period

Hi everybody,
I have a tricky problem which I couldn't solve although I tried all kind of ugly hacking in the
jurabib.bst file.
Ok, for my dissertation I have to give the year of the first publication of articles in
incollection. My professor wants the year of the first publication right after the end quote the
title but before the period. Something like:
Sontag, Susan: "The Imagination of Disaster" (1965). In: Dies.: The Against interpretation.
New York 1966.
Now the problem is how to get rid of the period after the end quote (I do want a period after
the end quote if there isn't an original year). Everything else is doable.
