Exactly.  I must have pulled jurabib off of CTAN at some point, and I was
mixing it with the newer jox.bst.

Exactly #2.  I didn't.  Made a proper private tex hierarchy in my home
directory, threw everything important in there, and ran texhash.  Works
great.  I was the only bug to be absolved.
