Peter, thanks for your hints. I thought so too, since the Latex-files
in my home directory (~/Library/...) are only a few.
I still don't get the logic of the the lots of files and folders needed
for (la)tex, the different distributions (tetex, itexmac,...?), but some
time I have to figure that out.
Could you recommend some easy-going-introduction in latex-file-
structure? Or will I have to read the whole latex-companion for that?

If you have a problem, please provide a complete minimal example document (with a small bibliography database), which runs out of he box without any superfluous packages loaded, otherwise we could not help.
