There is two solutions :
1) The bibtopic package where you split your bibliography in multiple .bib
files, one for your sources, one for your articles, one for your books,
etc.
2) The multibib package where you keep one bibliography file and redefine
multiple \cite commands for each section of your bibliography. As explained
by Andreas Kahl in this thread.
Bibtopic is supported in LyX http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/HumanitiesLyX#toc11
In your case, I would go the bibtopic way beacuse it is easier to sort your
bibliography file by categories and split the file than change one by one
the \cite in your document.
