LyX, jurabib and spanish documents

Hi,

as you might know, we have implemented some rudimentary support for jurabib
in LyX 1.4. Now we are facing some problems where we'd need your help:

we used to add
\usepackage{babel}
\addto\extrasspanish{\bbl@deactivate{~}}

to the preamble for Spanish documents, in order to circumvent clashes with
our use of the protected space. However, that clashed with jurabib. We got
the latex error:

Argument of \language@active@arg~ has an extra }.

Thus, we changed the line to 

\usepackage{babel}
- \addto\extrasspanish{\bbl@deactivate{~}}
+ \deactivatetilden

That fixed the clash, but now we got another report from a Spanish user who
got latex errors again in documents with the LaTeX code "~-" (that
is: "<protected space>-".

Is there some recommended way to use jurabib, babel and the tilde character?
Any way to work around that problem?
