Problems with archival type

Hello everybody,

I've tried out the archival type a bit in the last weeks, but ran  
into some problems.
One question to start with: Is there a secret manual to archival I  
have not found?
All the information I found was from this list and some postings in  
de.comp.text.tex.

Generally things seem to work, but I have some problems I wasn't able  
to solve.
Perhaps somebody knows solution or a workaround?

Maybe my way of using archival is not really typical -- I am a  
political scientist, and I use only a smaller number of archival  
documents in my PhD. thesis, but some of them are longer texts and  
are cited quite extensively.

See below for a minimal example.
I am using jurabib from the CVS.

Problem 1:
Using an author-year citation style, the way archival documents are  
cited is not really satisfactory.
Whenever I cite a document, I get the whole title, sheets,  
shortarchive etc. information (which can be rather long in some cases).
I did not find a way to replace this by some kind of short citation.
The only thing that works is the ibidem option, but of course this  
works only if the citations directly follow each other.

Is it possible to get something like the following:
- A shorttitle (or howcited?) field replaces the full title for each  
citation [except the first one], like "MfS-Studie, Bl. x"
- Shortarchive and signature replace the full title for each citation  
[except the first one], like "ABL 16.2.017, Bl. x"


Problem 2:
I don't really understand how the information for the bibliography is  
aggregated. Is it possible to influence that?
As far as I can see, the Archname information seems to be used as a  
long description which is put into the bibliography.
But I have problems when the archname is longer than one line of  
text: the different bibliography items are partly printed over each  
other, at least for documents from the same Subarchive (or without  
Subarchive).
The problem is even more dramatic if you use the bibformat=compress  
option.
The \jbsamearch variable seems to be in charge here, but I did not  
find a way to change it so that it can handle long and short Archnames.

Questions:
What is the Archname field intended to be used for?
Isn't there / shouldn't there be a possibility to have the title  
field printed in the bibliography?

I hope somebody can provide some help (or perhaps just point me to  
some additional information source)!
