Or what about this:

The thing is that this way a complex note would look a lot nicer,
e.g. (real-life examples from "Kosovo: A Short History"):

  69  For a summary see B. Lewis, _Emergence_, pp. 194-207; for the
      Nationality Law see Davison, _Reform_, p. 262.

becomes:

  \citep{For a summary see [lewis1968, 194-207]; for the Nationality
         Law see [davison1963, 262]}

And

  15  Rizaj, `N=EBnt=EB dokumente', pp. 199, 201.  `Ulema' is a collective
      term for Muslim clergy and scholars; `the Porte' is the
      tradional term for the Ottoman government.  In 1879 the British
      consul in Shkodra described the Leagers in Kosovo as `fanatical
      Muslims': Knight, _Albania_, p. 115.

becomes:

  \citep{[rizaj1981, 199, 201].  `Ulema' is a collective term for
         Muslim clergy and scholars; `the Porte' is the tradional term
         for the Ottoman government.  In 1879 the British consul in
         Shkodra described the Leagers in Kosovo as `fanatical
         Muslims': [knight1880, 115]}

Or is it silly to treat this as a long citation and not just a
footnote with citations in it?
