If I could jump in here: after the "ca." there appears a "intersentence"
length of about two spaces. I had this same issue using "vs." causing this.
The solution was to do "vs.\null\ rest of sentence." Note the space after
the second "\". I don't know if you can place a command in the "righttext"
option, but I think it's going to be an issue.
