I answered him. Basically, I think the problem appears when displaying
some dvi files and windvi doesn't have a windvi.cnf file yet. The
workaround is to open windvi once and to close it. Then to rerun windvi
on your dvi file. It should be needed only once. I'll try to track which
value is not initialized.
