Please specify the version of latex2rtf with which this occurs.
If I convert your sample text, it displays correctly in PC Word2000 and
WinXP's WordPad.
Open the resulting rtf as text only or with an ascii editor.
The last lines read
{{\b \qj\fi300 Bold}\par
{\i \qj\fi0 Italic}\par
{\i \qj\fi0 Emphasized} \par
}}
Try removing the blank after \b and \i , save and open again with TextEdit
and tell us whether this fixes the problem.
