figure numbering in overlays

Hello,

i am trying to make a presentation with differents figures on the same 
slide. These figures appear successively by using many overlays. The problem 
is that each figure has its own caption with a number which is increasing at 
each overlay :( (figure 1 finish as figure 4 !!! and fig 4 as fig 10 ...)

For example:

1|2|3|4  <-- overlays
_|_|_|_
caption number for each of the 4 figures
1|2|4|7
_|3|5|8
_|_|6|9
_|_|_|10

Could you please help me for solving this problem ?
I don't want to return to powerpoint if possible ;)
