Incremental Equations

Hi, I'm trying to figure out why I must use two sets of {} in order to get
my equations to increment properly.  It seems that the second set is
unneeded.  For example, 

 

\fromSlide{1}{{ 3 + 3 }}

 

--- as opposed to ---

 

\fromSlide{1}{ 3 + 3 }

 

 

I have attached an example.
