Sometimes I have the same BoundingBox problem with .jpg files.  It seems 
to depend on the version of Latex &c on the machine.  One way to get 
around it is to convert the file to .eps format.  For .jpg files, this can 
be done using the convert program from the ImageMagick tools.  I don't 
know if it handles .pdf, though.
