Beginner question: How to build meta post only

Hello all,

I'd like to build only the standalone MetaPost software (with debug
info), how can I do this?

I created a  work directory and ran

../configure --disable-all-pkgs --enable-mp --without-x

but I cannot find the mpost executable.

Can you help?
