OT, but Overleaf and Crixet (another online LaTeX editor/processor) are
used by two main classes of people:
1. Beginners who heard of it from friends/colleagues and have no idea
that there is such a thing as TeX Live: to them it's just another
web app. Once they hit the cycles/space walls on their documents
they tend to move to an installation of TL.
2. Authors who are multi-authoring collaborative articles with
colleagues, and want real-time synchrony.
It's certainly not "most users" but I wouldn't be surprised to find
that it's "most new users" for reason [1] above.
