Right, but as Bruno found, tlmgr does call different tools based on OS version, and this is transparent to the user (or hidden from the user, depending on your POV). It's a moot point since Dick is making sure neanderthals like me can't install basictex, so I think tlmgr is fine as-is. On the plus side, this broken installation at least allowed me to test my user-agent code in TLU, and confirm it's working with texlive.info. thanks, Adam
