You are almost certainly using the "draft" option. Don't.

There is nothing wrong with that. But there is something wrong about 
posting here a generic question about LaTeX. There is nothing specific 
about MIKTeX in your question. A better place to post it would have been 
the comp.text.tex newsgroup or the texhax mailing list. For more
