Dear list, as you may remember, with the help of Ulrike I was able to locate a previous problem. As a remedy, I now want to make MiKTeX to store UserData somewhere else than the default dir (in my case the default was UserData: C:\Users\hans\AppData\Local\MiKTeX\2.9 ). I have never tried the command-line setupwiz before, and naturally it came up with at least one error: The operation failed for some reason. Details: C:\miktex29\miktex/bin\initexmf.exe My invocation/option input was basic-miktex-2.9.4146.exe --private --user-data=\\ans-fil-rv-1\home-rv$\hans\System\Programdata\MiKTeX\2.9\userdata --user-install=C:\miktex29 Now, I used the UserConfig file path to put userdata into folder 'userdata' - is this causing the trouble? The setup wizard offered to open the logfile from installation for me, but it didn't do that after all. But I scrolled a bit before answering, and it seems that the fontcache dir had problems. I tried again, but then MiKTeX complained about a non-empty directory (c:\miktex29) - but since installation failed, I cannot select uninstall from control panel. Advice?
