I have already posted a bug report for a MikTeX 2.9 64-bit installation
(notebook, win-7-64 home premium) on May, 29th where map file generation
failed. But there was no solution found until now.
Today I updated my old (working!) v2.8 installation (desktop pc, win-7-64
ultimate) to v2.9 because of a test of XeLaTeX. Unfortunately updating the
map file also does not work on 32-bit MikTeX. The strange thing is that some
entries are recognized but others are not although the format of the entries
are the same ...
c:\Users\Uli\AppData\Local\MiKTeX\2.9\pdftex\config\pdftex.map
is not completely updated from entries in updmap.cfg located in
c:\Users\Uli\AppData\Roaming\MiKTeX\2.9\miktex\config
(done with "initexmf -u" and "initexmf --mkmaps"; "initexmf
--edit-config-file updmap" opens the correct updmap.cfg file)
My map files reside on a local repository ("K:\localtexmf\fonts\map\") which
I included in the TeX root.
BTW Ulrike Fischer could reproduce some of this failure on her system (we
had some private conversation on the subject in May).
