       I don't know, but it may be hard coded.  I reported a problem to 
this list subj:  "MiKTeX Problem Report,Message: Failure when receiving 
data from the peer", stamped 12/17/2011 8:15 PM Pacific time in my sent 
folder.  The problem disappeared after I uninstalled MiKTeX and 
reinstalled it in the default directory, as I reported to this list in 
an email stamped 12/24/2011 8:44 AM Pacific time.
