I made some tests with the combination winedt + texworks:

When I change the file in winedt and compile in winedt (which
includes saving the tex-file) then texworks shows the changed tex
file (but not the changed pdf). 

When I change the file and save it in winedt (but do not compile)
then texworks doesn't show the changed file. But if I then compile
in texworks both files (the pdf and the tex are updated).


Btw: Does someone know how I could prevent texworks from opening the
pdf as soon as I open a tex file?
