Hello!

I finally succeeded by manually determining the proxy I needed.

Internet explorer shows it's proxy configuration in
(Extras -> Internetoptionen -> LAN-Einstellungen), which was
"Automatisches Konfigurationsskript verwenden" checked and a URL.
This is a human-readable script file that can be downloaded by IE and opened in a text editor.
After lists of rules for special hosts it finally listed the default proxy for everything else, which worked for the MiKTeX installer and the automatic package installer.

It would be nice if MiKTeX could have an option to get the proxy configuration from Internet Explorer (if this is possible) or read and interpret the configuration scripts like IE does.

Betreff: [MiKTeX] Manual package download and installation

Hello!

I use MiKTeX with a few additional packages (like koma-script), and with switching from XP to Win7 and some new network rules in my company automatic package download does not work anymore. I would like to download the needed packages manually (using Internet Explorer) and install them from the local hard drive.
How can I do that?

I read the recommendation to use the net installer, but I can't set its proxy settings either.

With best regards
