Miktex problem with memory stick

I installed MikTex 2.9 and WinEdt 6 in my new PC.  When I pdflatex or latex
a file in the E drive, a blue screen death occurs.  But I have no problem
if I latex or pdflatex a file in the C drive.

The problem does not occur in my old laptop.  I can latex and pdflatex in
any files in the E drive; everything works just fine.

Any idea what is wrong?  I sent emails to WinEdt, and the person says that
it is not WinEdt's problem because the problem occurs even when I run latex
and pdflatex in the command prompt.
