Try instead the option convert of gsview and choose the driver epswrite or pdfwrite. Or use some printer driver which can create pdf directly. Or use a spreadsheet application which can save to pdf. If you create a pdf you will probably have to use pdfcrop afterwards e.g. on the command line with: pdfcrop figtopdf.pdf figtopdfcropped.pdf I would advice you to create pdf's: xelatex has to convert eps files at every compilation on-the-fly. This slow downs compilation.
