Re: installation of miktex packages

 Hi, Ravi,

What you can do with MikTeX 2.9 is to install the base part of it,
and let it to download and install additional packages when needed.
However, the downloading often fails for the reasons that are not clear
(bottlenecks? firewalls?). To avoid such failures, it is advised to find out
the direct link to the whole MikTeX 2.9 set (4-5 GB) and to download it
at once and store it in a dedicated local directory. Then MikTeX will
install additional packages from that directory rather than from network.
If your TUG dvd contains the whole MikTeX set than this dvd might be
such a source and you will need to insert it when requested by MikTeX.

It is not a good idea to use LaTex packages from one MikTeX version
with another MikTeX version. All possible incompatibilities are on your
own risk.
