I once believed that top-posting was anathema.  But in the
business world, correspondents find the Usenet style
confusing and complain about it.  And they are not just
wrong.  So I recently changed one of my email accounts
to use a more standard quote style.  (It is more standard,
in that it is *much* more widely used.)  I've now moved
my miktex-users subscription to a different account, in
response to your complaint.  I'm happy to adjust to
community conventions, although I'm afraid inline comments
are a dying convention.  The pressure on them is worse now
because they are not well supported in standard
smart-phone software.

Anyway, if you really "hate" top posting, I can understand
that you might sacrifice other benefits to avoid dealing
with it.

Getting back to the topic (which is still "off topic"):
Josef's comment that sx offers rss feeds for favorite tags
is interesting.  It still depends on users to be smart
about tagging (which a look at the tagging practices
suggests is not working well), but it is interesting.
Just fyi, you can also subscribe to a Google Group using
RSS or Atom, but I don't think you can filter on tags.

Overall, I'm not persuaded of the advantage. But as you
suggest, it will make sense to go wherever the crowds are.
I'm just looking to understand the flocking.
